Mary Bennett Remembered

Created by Jason 11 years ago
We thank all those kind staff at Orsett House where she has been wonderfully cared for over the last four years and we remember what she used to be like. Born on the 26th October 1922 in Bristol, Mary had a fairly quiet life to begin with, but made some unusual moves throughout her time. She enjoyed her tennis, her swimming and her holidays in the sun. In later life she also enjoyed her wine and drinking it with husband, Ivor. She moved out to the West Indies in 1948 with Wilf, father to Sue, only to return in the early Fifties leaving Wilf behind, firstly to Bristol but settling then in South Wales near her Sister. She enjoyed tennis and this interest led her to meet Ivor, Jean's Father, at the local tennis club. They married in 1958 and needed to move to Stafford for Ivor's work. They remained together until 2009 when Ivor passed away suddenly, just a few weeks after she moved into Orsett House. She died peacefully in her sleep on the 8th January 2013, after a short illness finally got the better of her.
